Destiny 2 crossplay, transmog, and more revealed by Bungie in update

Bungie has released a new developer update revealing that Destiny 2 crossplay, transmog, and more are coming to the game in 2021. Destiny 2, Year 4 will also provide players with more rewards as Bungie acknowledges that the initial reward pool “was just too small.”

Joe Blackburn, Assistant Game Director, revealed that Destiny 2 cross-platform support is coming in 2021. However, there’s no exact Destiny 2 crossplay release date to help narrow things down beyond that release date. Users will be able to compete and cooperate across the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Google Stadia versions of the game.

Destiny 2 transmog is coming with Season 14

Armor transmogrification will allow players to manage their appearance on a more granular level in Destiny 2. The above work-in-progress screen capture is subject to change, though indicates that more in-depth character customization is on the way.

Bungie promises there are “more details to come” following this initial tease, so expect more transmog news as Destiny 2 Season 14 approaches its 2021 release date.

The Vault of Glass raid, which debuted in the original Destiny, will return to Destiny 2 in 2021.

A pair of smaller-scale strikes will also make a comeback next year. Fallen S.A.B.E.R. returns from expansion The Taken King, while Devil’s Lair first appeared in the original game.

Destiny 2, Year 4 will be the most rewarding yet

The dev team has committed to making each season “grow the overall Power ecosystem” for weapons. That means more new guns to collect than there were in Beyond Light or Shadowkeep. It also means that with “very few exceptions,” weapons that can be taken to the Power cap will remain earnable in-game.

Additionally, Legendary and Master Lost Sector rotation will expand in Season 13, introducing three new pieces of Exotic armor to acquire.

There’s plenty to keep Destiny 2 players busy throughout the rest of this year. The Beyond Light expansion recently launched (check out the review), and weekly resets still occur like clockwork. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S updates are also rolling out from today.
