Cyberpunk 2077 launches website to show off Night City

The official Cyberpunk 2077 Night City website has launched, giving us an in-universe look at the city of the future. As with GTA 5’s fictional websites, this new piece of media tells us a lot of the backstory of Night City, its citizens, and all of the crazy stuff you can find inside.

Dubbed the “City of Dreams,” Night City serves at the setpiece for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077. This massive metropolis displays a dark future where man and machine are becoming increasingly intertwined and the law is more of a suggestion. Now, we can gain some insight about the city and its culture through a new website that has launched today.

“The history of Night City begins with the dream of one man: visionary industrialist Richard Night,” the Cyberpunk 2077 Night City website read. “In the final years of the 20th century, Night had a vision for a city of the future, one uncorrupted by old ideas and stifling regulations.”

One notable element of the website is advertisements for a mayoral election, hinting at what may be a quest in the game. Weldon Hold, Mr. Peralez, and Lucius Rhyne have all taken out advertisements on the website. The future isn’t free of pop-ups, either, as an advertisement for a massive “Burrito XXL” from All Foods hovers over the screen.

The Cyberpunk 2077 Night City website also contains a breakdown of the city’s seven districts: City Center, Watson, Heywood, Westbrook, Santo  Domingo, and Outskirts. Each district has a “threat level” assessed by the Night City Police department; for example, the City Center is categorized as Safe, but the Pacifica district is ominously classified as “Catastrophic” due to a rampant gang activity and a lack of government authority in the area.
