As part of Comic-Con @ Home, Sega announced pre-orders for Yakuza: Like a Dragon alongside a new trailer. We also learned the English voice cast line-up, which includes the illustrious George Takei (oh my)! Sega gave details about the various editions that will be available, and a release window for the game.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the first entry in the series not to feature Kazuma Kiryu as the protagonist. Instead, we’ll take control of newcomer Ichiban Kasuga, a former junior Tojo Clan member who was just released from prison for taking the fall for a murder he didn’t commit. George Takei plays Tojo Clan patriarch Masumi Arakawa, the man who asked Ichiban to take the wrap and the game’s primary antagonist.
This game also starts the complex roulette of next-gen upgrades we’ll be seeing in the near future. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in November. The game will also come to Xbox Series X as a Smart Delivery game on the same day of the console’s release (also assumed to be November).
However, the situation will be more complicated for PS5 owners. It was revealed the game will come to that platform at some point, but details on when it will release on PS5 and how players will upgrade are yet to come.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will come in four different editions. The handy chart above shows what content comes with each of these. Unfortunately, the Legendary Hero Edition is digital-only. If you decide to go physical (like me), you’ll miss out on some content. Hopefully, this will be able to be earned in-game or purchased separately.
I can’t wait to play Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and you can be sure we’ll have a full review up when it releases sometime in November.
