Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge VR Game production artwork

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge VR game is releasing in 2020

A Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge VR game has been announced and will release sometime later in 2020. This new Star Wars VR game will give fans of the franchise something cool to look forward to, although it won’t be entirely what you expect.

Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is being developed by ILMxLAB, a division of Lucasfilm which focuses on “immersive entertainment.” The project is being developed in collaboration with Oculus Studios and will be set between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Players will be transported to the outskirts of Batuu’s Black Spire Outpost. This original story will feature appearances by some classic characters along with some new faces. If you’re not well-versed in VR, you won’t have to worry, either — a range of gameplay styles and difficulty settings will be available to accommodate players of all skill levels.

Unfortunately, those of you who might be hoping to play this at home may end up disappointed — this game is being developed as an attraction for Disney World and Disneyland. Considering Oculus’ involvement, one hopes that we might see an eventual PC port of this upcoming game at a later date.
