Minecraft Dungeons Age Rating | How old to play?
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rated Minecraft Dungeons as Everyone 10+. This certificate means that Minecraft Dungeons is suitable for all players aged 10 and over; it’s recommended that children under 10 years of age should play with parental supervision. The game was classified as E10+ due to its depiction of fantasy violence.

ESRB’s rating summary notes that players will battle against an “evil force” throughout their quest. Visually, Dungeons sticks with Minecraft‘s trademark pixelated visual style and doesn’t look realistic. There are no blood effects, but players do engage in combat and kill “fantastical” enemies including zombies and skeletons with a range of weaponry. Using implements like swords, bows, and explosives causes enemies to cry out in pain before they eventually fall and disappear upon death.
It might sound bad on paper, but in practice, Minecraft Dungeons isn’t all that violent. We’ve included a trailer below in which you can see the game in action and judge for yourself. Whether you deem it appropriate for your child or not is ultimately a personal decision, after all.
Since Minecraft Dungeons features local co-op multiplayer, you might want to consider playing alongside younger children. This way, you can monitor the game’s content and also discuss any elements you deem necessary as and when they happen. This could be a good option if you’re still concerned after watching the trailer but don’t want to deprive your son or daughter of playing the game entirely.
