The Outer Worlds Switch Delayed Coronavirus

The Outer Worlds Switch release delayed due to Coronavirus

The Outer Worlds Switch release has been delayed. Publisher Private Division revealed the news on Twitter, citing the Coronavirus epidemic in Eastern Asia as the reason for the setback. Singaporean developer, Virtuos is working on the Switch port of The Outer Worlds, and their office has been closed in an effort to combat spreading of the virus.

Fortunately, Private Division reports that no one at Virtuos is in danger. From the Twitter post, we can assume that the office is closed as a precaution as opposed to a reaction to someone on the team actually contracting Coronavirus.

One good thing to come out of this delay is that The Outer Worlds will now also be released on a physical cartridge in addition to a digital download via the Nintendo Switch eShop. Private Division stated that no firm launch date is available at this time, but that they’ll be delivering news on that front ASAP.

Previously, The Outer Worlds for Switch was targeting a March 6, 2020 release. We gave the game 4.5/5 when it premiered on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in October of last year.
