Tips
Don't start making too many foods if you really don't need them. It's good to have a stock of items built up, but too many will just end up costing you more money than they're worth.
Avoid spending your Jelly on meaningless timesavers. Hold onto as much of it as you can so you can purchase houses later in the game.
Try to carefully plan your town, as expansions are expensive... and clearing vegetation equally so.
