Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bots, 3v3 Gunfight matches

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bots, 3v3 custom Gunfight map matches, Realism mode, and more detailed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will include the option for players to fight in multiplayer matches offline with A.I. bots. In addition to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bots inclusion, the game will also allow for 3v3 custom matches of the new Gunfight mode.

In a Reddit thread, Infinity Ward developer Brian Baker confirmed several options available in offline multiplayer matches, including the option to fight against A.I.-controlled enemies. Bots first appeared in the Call of Duty series back in Call of Duty: Black Ops, where players could enable them in a handful of game modes. Call of Duty bots usually have four to five difficulty settings, which change their tactics and behavior. No specific difficulty modes have been confirmed for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bots, but they’re not likely to have been removed.

Baker also confirmed that players will be able to create custom 3v3 matches in the game’s Gunfight maps, which were designed for 2v2 encounters, though Baker’s comment seems to imply six players will be the maximum for these maps. Baker added that 1v1 matches will also be playable, but he did not specify which maps would be available for these. Infinity Ward revealed Gunfight on Twitch ahead of the full Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal in early August. Gunfight is meant to be a highly skill-focused mode, putting players into 40-second rounds of 2v2 combat and giving all players the same loadout.

In another Reddit thread, developer Joe Cecot clarified the function of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Realism mode. The mode was previously revealed to introduce several changes that will make gameplay more realistic. Detailed in a Game Informer video, Realism mode makes headshots more lethal and removes hit markers. Few details about the implementation of Realism mode and the similarly hardcore-focused Night mode have been available so far, however. Cecot clarified that Realism mode is a modifier that players can turn on, and Night mode is a map variant players can select when picking a map, so each can be used independently or in conjunction with each other. It’s still not clear how this will work in multiplayer, but perhaps players will just be able to select from these options when picking a multiplayer playlist to be paired with others who also prefer these modifiers.
