The FaceApp iOS and Android application has blown up this week, with many users posting aged selfies across social media. While the app’s ability to add 50 years to your appearance is certainly impressive, its terms and conditions are a little worrying. Diving into the T&Cs reveals that the app can take all users’ uploaded photos for commercial use.

Yogscast CEO resigns after sexual harassment allegations

Following allegations of sexual harassment, Yogcast CEO Mark “Turps” Turpin has resigned from his position at the gaming YouTube and Twitch company. This controversy followed another Yogcast-related incident, where Matthew “CaffCast” Meredith was terminated over separate sexual exploitation allegations.

Crash Team Racing’s ‘racially insensitive’ Watermelon Tawna skin renamed

Developer Beenox has changed the Crash Team Racing “Watermelon Tawna” skin name to “Summertime Tawna,” following a popular thread on ResetEra. No official comment was made regarding the change, but the alteration was acknowledged in the game’s official patch notes under the “Bug Fixes” header.

Devs criticize Watch Dogs Legion crowdsourcing through Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord

Developers are unhappy with the latest partnership between actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord company and Ubisoft. The new collaboration sees creators being encouraged to supply music for the upcoming Watch Dogs Legion. However, with only successful applicants receiving pay, other creators will essentially be providing free labor.

Twitch viewership declines for first time in more than a year

According to a report from Streamlabs, which compiles data from Twitch, YouTube, and Mixer, total Twitch hours watched declined from 2.762 billion in Q1 2019 to 2.706 billion in Q2 2019 — a decline of 2%, or 56 million hours. This is the first audience decrease in more than a year. On the flip side, both YouTube and Mixer saw growth. YouTube Gaming saw all-time highs for its various viewership stats in Q2 2019. Mixer’s hours streamed saw a leap from 8.4 million hours in Q1 to 12 million hours in Q2, lifting the platform out of a year-long streaming decline.

More than half of Japanese gamers won’t buy Nintendo Switch Lite, poll suggests

Japanese website Inside conducted a survey in which it asked gamers if they were interested in buying the Nintendo Switch Lite. Though the small sample size should be taken with a grain of salt, it was still interesting to see that more than half of Japanese gamers aren’t interested in the new Lite variant.

Female Overwatch Twitch streamer told to ‘shut the f*** up’ and ‘make sandwiches’

In case you’d forgotten how awful some video game players can be, especially to women, here’s a sad reminder. Overwatch Twitch streamer Cupcake shared a clip on Twitter, in which she received abuse from male teammates. The streamer was told to “shut your f***ing mouth” and “make sandwiches. Another chimed in with “mop my floor” along with using a racial slur. “Women have lower IQ.” can also be heard.
