Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny

Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny | How to beat

The story mode in Super Mario Maker 2 is filled with tons of premade levels, some easy and some hard. With levels ranging from one to four stars, the Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny Level #77 is a four star, meaning it is one of the hardest to complete. To beat it, you’ll need to collect four different keys while holding onto a stone. While it may seem difficult at first, once you know what you’re doing, it is actually quite easy! Let’s take a look at how to beat the Stony of Destiny level in Super Mario Maker 2.

Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny level walkthrough

Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny

As you begin the level, you’ll see a bunch of red doors, all locked with a key. To beat the level, you’re going to need to find the four keys that will unlock those doors. To begin, head up the green pipe.

Once you come out of the other side of the pipe, you’ll see a stone sitting in the middle of four doors. You’re going to need this stone to get the key from each of the rooms. It is important to note that in order to beat the Stone of Destiny level, you don’t have to carry the stone throughout the whole level, you just have to cross the finish line with it in your hand. So if you accidentally throw the stone off of the map or drop it, no worries. You’re inevitably going to lose it at some point, when that happens, simply go back and get another.

Door #1

With that sorted, grab the stone and head through the first door. This is probably the trickiest of them all, which is why we are going to knock it out first. Upon entering the room, you should see a bunch of Bullet Bills being shot over the conveyor belt. You should also see an On/Off switch at the close edge of the belt.

You’re going to need to set the stone down, hop up onto the belt, and quickly push the On/Off button. The timing here is crucial. Stand directly under the opening and as soon as the Bullet Bill goes over your head, hop up, sprint across the belt, hit the button, and then hop down. It may take a few tries, and possibly lives, but eventually, you’ll get it.

Now, you can pick the stone back up and throw it onto the bottom belt, which should now be blue. This will cause the block to bounce off the music note and land in front of the Bullet Bill shooter, preventing any more from being fired. You can now run across the top belt and grab the key.

Now you’ll have one of the four keys needed to complete the Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny level.

Door #2

Now that we’ve secured one key, it’s time to get another. Go grab the stone and head through the second door, which will take you to a room filled with Green Koopa Troopers. This is going to be a really easy room.

To start, drop down to the bottom level and toss the stone towards the saw blade. Once you’ve done that, you can hop back up to the level you started on. You’re going to need to jump on the head of one of the Koopa Troopers so that they go in their shell and then jump on it again so that it goes towards the saw blade. This will cause the shell to hit the wall, then the stone, and then the key. After you’ve done that simply stand there and wait while the key is delivered to you.

Two down, two to go.

Door #3

Grab another stone and head into the third room. For this room, you’re going to need to throw the stone onto the rightmost music note so that the stone is bouncing up and down. Then, you’re going to want to trigger the big stone so that when it flies across the room the bouncing stone will hit its bottom and bounce it to the upper portion of the room. It may take a few tries to get the timing right, but keep at it.

Once the big block is in the upper portion of the room, get close (but not too close) and jump up so that it will fly across the room and crush the blocks guarding the key. Once it goes back to its resting position, you can go over and grab the key.

Now you just need to grab one last key to complete the Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny level.

Door #4

Grab a fresh stone and head through the fourth and final door. For this one, you’re going to need to hop up to the ledge and set the stone down close to the saws. When the claw comes by, it will pick the stone up, allowing you to jump on top of the stone. Then, you can ride all the way to the key and back. Piece of cake.

The only thing to note that is you need to jump on top of the stone once the claw picks it up. If you let the claw go over your head while it has the stone, it will drop the stone and pick you up instead. This will result in you being cut in half by the saw blade.

Now that you have all of the keys, you need to pick up a stone and go back through the green pipe. For this one, you’re going to need to hold onto the stone the whole time, or else you’ll have to go back and get a new one. With the stone in hand, head to the first locked door and go through it like normal.

You’ll then come out in the bottom at the beginning of the long line of doors. Go through all of the doors and you’ll end up at the finish line. As long as you have the special stone in your hand, you will be able to cross the finish line and complete the Super Mario Maker 2 Stone of Destiny level.
