A limited-time, Wild West-themed gameplay mode is coming to Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege in the form of Rainbow Six Siege Showdown. This Rainbow Six Siege cowboy Showdown event is only available from July 2 to July 16 and puts players in teams of three as “The Law” and the “Graveltop Gang” (a.k.a. the “The Lawbreakers”).
Rainbow Six Siege Showdown takes place in a new Secure Area map called Fort Truth, which The Law (attackers) and the Graveltop Gang (defenders) will fight to secure in 90-second rounds. Most interestingly, the mode only allows players to equip the BOSG.12.2 shotgun and Magnum LFP586 revolver for added Wild West flair. To add to the old-world realism, players will also have to play without health, ammo, and crosshairs displayed on their HUDs.
Five operators are available for each team, each dressed in Showdown-related gear for the event. The Law gets Maverick, Ash, Twitch, Capitão, and Glaz, and the Graveltop Gang gets Alibi, Kaid, Caveira, Maestro, and Rook. Players who log in during the event will receive a free Showdown Collection Pack, each of which contains one of 31 Western-themed cosmetic items for one of the 10 operators. Players can obtain more Showdown Collection Packs by completing Ubisoft Club Event challenges or purchasing them with 300 R6 credits. Ubisoft notes that these packs are guaranteed to have one of the 31 items and will not contain duplicates.
Ubisoft announced the new mode via the Rainbow Six Siege official Twitter account. According to Windows Central, a Western-themed event had been rumored since May, when dataminers discovered Western-themed cosmetics in the files of the game’s test server and later uncovered a narration audio file mentioning the Graveltop Gang.
As part of the Rainbow Six Siege Showdown event, Ubisoft is running a contest for players called the Showdown Throwdown. Players who pick a team (#TheLaw or #GraveltopGang) and post a clip of their gameplay to social media could win the complete collection of Showdown cosmetic items. Winners will be chosen by the “quality,” “level” and “entertainment value” of their gameplay.
