Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled | How to Power Slide and Turbo Boost

The Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Power Slide mechanic is a little fiddly to pull off, especially for newcomers to the kart racing remake. Unlike other kart racers, which typically have you let go of the drift button in order to get a swift boost, the CTR Power Slide requires you to carefully veer into the skid while also managing a couple of buttons. As such, here’s a guide on how to Power Slide in CTR Nitro Fueled for those of you having trouble with the mechanic.

How to Power Slide in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled doesn’t exactly explain itself well when it comes to the Power Slide. You can get a heads-up on how to do it from accessing the ‘Hints’ tab on the pause menu, though the voiceover leaves out one vital piece of information. While your character explains that pressing the relevant Power Slide button will cause you to sharply skid in the direction you’re heading towards, it doesn’t indicate exactly how you initiate the boost.

In order to do so, you must follow these steps:

  1. Press either Power Slide button (L1/R1 in standard control mode, L1/X in alternate control mode).
  2. Wait until the Boost Bar fills and your exhaust turns black.
  3. Press the alternate Power Slide button to initiate the boost.
  4. Repeat up to three times to continue boosting.

Each boost can be timed, with you pressing the alternate boost button in order to initiate the boost at just the right time. The bar fills from green to red, with you having to press it just before it depletes; if you allow it to deplete, you’ll lose the opportunity to boost.

If you boost at the correct time, you’ll be rewarded with a ‘Perfect!’ message. If you perform three perfect boosts in a row, your speed boost will increase and give you a great deal of momentum.

Power Sliding is by far one of the best ways to gain an advantage over your competitors, so make sure you get that timing down. Before you know it, you’ll be Turbo Boosting past all your competitors.cras
