Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, last year’s XCOM-inspired post-apocalyptic strategy game, is coming to Nintendo Switch. Funcom announced Mutant Year Zero Switch and a new expansion for the game will be coming this summer.
Mutant Year Zero publisher Funcom announced the Switch port during Epic Games’ keynote at GDC 2019 in San Francisco. Developer The Bearded Ladies released a trailer for the game’s upcoming Switch release as well. Mutant Year Zero on Switch will include a new DLC expansion that will be available to purchase on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The Switch port will release on June 25, 2019, alongside a Deluxe Edition on other systems that will include the expansion. The Deluxe Edition is set to retail for $39.99.
The Bearded Ladies has not released information about the new expansion, but it will release the same day as the Nintendo Switch port. A physical edition of the game is being co-published with Maximum Games and is available for pre-order at a number of retailers now. Haraldur Thormundsson of The Bearded Ladies helped announce Mutant Year Zero Switch.
“Ever since we started working on this game, we have always felt it would be a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch. The game lends itself really well to the Switch controls and the pacing of the tactical turn-based combat is perfect for an on-the-go, handheld console. We are also excited for the opportunity to tell another Mutant Year Zero story with the new expansion DLC, and we look forward to talking more about that soon.”
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden released in December 2018. The game is a third-person strategy game in the same vein as XCOM and Mario + Rabbids. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world and stars a number of mutated creatures on their journey to find a paradise. Mutant Year Zero is currently available on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
