Hollow Knight sequel Silksong

Hollow Knight sequel ‘Silksong’ announced

“No time for fluff today gang. Let’s leap straight in for the big reveal,” is how Hollow Knight developers Team Cherry started off its Valentine’s Day post. The team didn’t hold back. Rumors had been rife about downloadable content that would center around the Hornet character was incoming for the Metroidvania title. Team Cherry has unveiled the content is, in fact, Hollow Knight sequel Silksong, a fully-fledged game.

The blog post immediately explained Hollow Knight: Silksong is “the second game by Team Cherry” and spoke of the difficulty they’ve had keeping it under the radar. Team Cherry revealed that Hornet’s solo adventure had been being worked on ever since the release of its predecessor way back in February 2017. The developer elaborated on why there may have been some confusion regarding the content initially being discussed as a DLC: “Almost from the very start, Hornet’s adventure was intended to take place in a new land, but as we dove in, it quickly became too large and too unique to stay a DLC, as initially planned.”

Along with new characters, foes and friends alike, one of the most interesting aspects of the sequel is the introduction of “lethal acrobatic action.” If you’ve encountered Hornet in the first title, then you’ll know the character is fast-moving and much more versatile than the knight you control. The sequel is inviting the player to control a character with a faster acrobatic style in a fresh setting this time around.

The post goes on to thank the series’ 2,158 Kickstarter backs who’ve made the games possible, before further stating that their backers enabled over 2.8 million players to experience Hollow Knight.

Hollow Knight sequel Silksong was not given a release date in the post, but Team Cherry did reveal it would be available on Nintendo Switch and PC. Regarding other platforms, the team stated “more platforms may happen!” Hollow Knight has continued to be supported by the developer, with the “Godmaster” DLC being the last installment released in August 2018.
