UK Charts put Red Dead Redemption 2 back on top.

UK charts see Red Dead Redemption 2 and FIFA 19 back on top

Red Dead Redemption 2 sits atop the UK charts again, dethroning Kingdom Hearts 3. EA’s FIFA 19 took the second spot, also up over Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. The latest UK charts see a trio of Nintendo games still hanging in the top ten.

The week ending February 9, 201, saw cowboys and soccer overcome Disney and zombies. With that said, remember that the UK sales data covers retail, physical game copies only. Here’s the breakdown of the latest figures:

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2
  2. FIFA 19
  3. Kingdom Hearts 3
  4. Resident Evil 2 Remake
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  6. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe
  7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  8. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  9. Super Smash Bros Ultimate
  10. Grand Theft Auto 5

Red Dead Redemption 2 tops the charts for the sixth week since its release in October, although only for the first time in 2019. Stiff competition from new releases such as Kingdom Hearts 3 kept the game from the top spot throughout January.

According to Gamesindustry.biz, Kingdom Hearts 3 had a near 90 percent drop off in sales from the previous week, although it did only fall two positions to number three. Alongside that drop was the Resident Evil 2 remake falling from number two to number four with a 67 percent sales drop off.

EA’s FIFA 19 climbed back up to number two, although that game has sold significantly less than the previous year’s FIFA 18. Rounding out the middle is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Nintendo’s Mario Kart for the Switch has remained a strong seller for the publisher, with the game selling over 15 million copies since its port in 2017.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate and GTA V dropped while Spyro hopped back up to number eight. Smash Ultimate sales have topped 12 million in a little over two months since the game launched, exceeding previous Smash games. GTA V sales are down for the week, nearly falling out of the top 10 UK charts. The five-year-old game has sold over 100 million units since launching in September 2013.
