Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition – What Is in It?

Almost every game now has a more expensive version and Mortal Kombat 11 is no exception. The Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition has finally been revealed which answers some questions and raises others. What will be in the Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition? What DLC is coming with it? How many fighters are coming with it? Will it make Scorpion apologize for what he did to Raiden in that trailer? Probably not, but we can look at recent listings to answer the former two questions.

Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition – What Does It Come With?

According to Steam, the Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Edition will be $99.99 and will come with the main game and the Kombat Pack. The Kombat Pack includes six new playable DLC characters, one week early access to those characters, seven skins, and seven sets of gear. Pre-ordering either the standard or premium edition will also let players play as Shao Kahn and PS4 and Xbox One pre-orderers will also get access to the closed beta.

NetherRealm has not stated who the six fighters will be. For comparison, the studio revealed the lineup for the first Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X about a month before the game released. Injustice 2‘s first Fighter Pack roster, however, was unveiled less a week before the game came out. The week early access is being carried over from both titles.

Having only six fighters in this pack makes it possible that there will another pack with more fighters since MKX and Injustice 2 had eight and nine DLC characters, respectively. That does not include Goro and Darkseid, which were like Shao Khan: pre-order bonus fighters that were also sold separately.

The skins and gear implies that the NetherRealm is adding a gear system similar to Injustice 2 along with a more standard skin system seen in the other Mortal Kombat titles. Whether or not either ties into the Custom Variation system or how the two intersect is unknown as the studio has not detailed exactly what skins or gear are or how they differ.
