Fallout 76 Rusted Key

Fallout 76 Rusted Key – How to Enter Freddy Fear’s House of Scares

Fallout 76 has a lot of mysteries to unlock, from Vault 63 to the actual Order of Mysteries, but nothing beats a good locked-door puzzle. There’ll be plenty of moments where you’ll find a weird key with no idea where it goes, or an intriguing door but with no clear way to lockpick it. The Fallout 76 Rusted Key is one such item. Where is it? What does it do? And what does it have to do with the curious Freddy Fear’s House of Scares? We’ve got the answers.

Where to Find the Fallout 76 Rusted Key

Fallout 76 Rusted Key Location

The Fallout 76 Rusted Key is an unmarked item hidden at the far north of the West Virginia wasteland map, around the east side of the big lake with the Crocodile slide on top of it. Head to the location on the map above. You’ll find it in a container floating in the lake, near a collapsed house. It’s actually the same safe which also contains the Alien Blaster weapon, so if you’ve got that you’ve probably picked up the Rusted Key at the same point too. But what does the key unlock?

How to Enter Freddy Fear’s House of Scares

The Fallout 76 Rusted Key unlocks a location called Freddy Fear’s House of Scares, which seems to be a reference to popular jump-scare gaming series Five Nights at Freddy’s. This is far but directly east of the place where you found the Rusted Key, just as you enter The Mire region. More specifically, it’s just to the east of the Route 66 marker on the map.

The Rusted Key unlocks a red door in the back of the building, up some stairs. Bizarrely, the only thing of interest there is the Stolen Terminal Passcode, which is a mystery in and of itself. You can use the code in Morgantown in a terminal at the Shadowbreeze Apartments, but we’ll let you chase this little secret quest by yourself… hint: it’s connected to the Alien Blaster you just picked up. Spoiler though: you can bypass most of this side stuff and go straight to the final location.
