Ghost Recon Wildlands is getting a free update at the end of this month which adds a key new mode to the game. Called Speical Operations 2, the update will have a new PvE mode, where players will have to struggle with a permadeath mechanic. On top of this, many other features will be added into the game
The key focus of the Ghost Recon Wildlands update, named Ghost Mode, will task players with taking down the Santa Blanca Cartel. On top of the permadeath mechanic, players will have to deal with many other challenges. Among them are friendly fire, a limited loadout, and more realistic loading. Additionally, players can also choose to not play with AI.
However, there is more to this update than just Ghost Mode. New features include two new PvP classes and two new maps, which includes a snow-themed map. Furthermore, there is a new spectator mode called Observer Mode and various other quality of life improvements.
The update is free for all players, however, those who have purchased the Ghost Recon: Wildlands Year 2 pass will get the update early. For players without the pass, the update will be available July 31st, and those with it will be able to access it July 24th.
Ghost Recon Wildlands has been getting an immense amount of support from its developer and publisher Ubisoft. The most notable of these updates is one where Splinter Cell‘s Sam Fisher had a moving cameo in the game. The game hasn’t been extremely popular, but with these free updates, some may want to get into the newest entry into Ubisoft’s franchise.
So what do you think? Is this update a good reason to jump back into the game? Or is it too little too late for it? Sound off in the comments below!
