Monster Hunter fever is setting the world on fire. Capcom has announced a 3D animated special titled Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild. The Japanese games giant will be collaborating with Pure Imagination Studios to bring this animated special to life. It will be written by Joshua Fine, who has worked on The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated series.
According to Gematsu, the production for Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is projected to finish this winter, and it will premiere worldwide sometime in 2019. The press release describes the story as featuring “a brave young man determined to prove himself as a monster hunter worthy of recognition. His chance will come all too soon when he discovers that his remote village lies in the path of an Elder Dragon—a veritable force of nature made flesh.”
Series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said: “We think die-hard fans will appreciate our dedication to the source material while those uninitiated to the series will still be treated to an epic adventure in a wholly unique world.” No further information has been revealed about this upcoming Monster Hunter animated special, including whether it will be fully dubbed in English or Japanese.
Pure Imagination Studios CCO John P. Roberts said: “With Monster Hunter, our talented and diverse group of animators, storytellers, and producers, who have created content for LEGO, Marvel, and Star Wars, are collaborating with Capcom to create a powerful and engaging story universe to serve its enormous global fan base.”
Despite having recently announced the release date for Monster Hunter World on the PC, Capcom is in danger of falling stocks due to fear of dwindling sales. It feels like an exaggeration of sorts, especially considering that the game has already managed to sell more than eight million units to date. However, here’s hoping that the announcement of this animated special will help mitigate this stock crisis of sorts.
