It’s only been a few weeks since the launch of both the Nintendo Labo and God of War. Looking at the UK sales charts, it’s clear which one is ahead of the other as the latest PS4 exclusive manages to stay on top for the third consecutive week while the Nintendo Labo tumbles further down the rabbit hole. The only new title released in the past week was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Nintendo Switch.
UK Sales Chart: God of War Stands
According to GamesIndustry.biz, God of War‘s stellar sales numbers in the UK is the first time that a PS4 exclusive has managed to remain at number one for three consecutive weeks since The Last of Us: Remastered in 2014. It seems that the latest adventure starring Kratos will be keeping the crown for a while longer since there are no major releases slated in the next few weeks, perhaps until Detroit Become Human launches later in May.
God of War also recently became the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive ever, with 3.1 million units sold worldwide in its first three days of release alone. Back to the UK sales chart, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze debuts at number two. It’s technically the Nintendo Switch port of a Wii U game, which originally released in 2014.
UK Sales Chart: Nintendo Labo Falls
The Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit has dropped to number thirteen on the UK sales chart with an extremely discouraging 62 percent decrease from the previous week. The Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 02: Robot Kit fared even worst as it has already disappeared from the top forty sales chart for good.
This isn’t surprising, considering the Nintendo Labo struggled even in its debut week in the UK and Japan. The only consolation prize for Nintendo is that its latest product offering did manage to debut at number one in Japan, beating God of War. However, those numbers aren’t that impressive since the Nintendo Labo only sold 30 percent of its initial shipment.
