CD Projekt Red will be at E3 2018 as confirmed by the E3 website, but does that mean Cyberpunk 2077 will be shown? Ever since Cyberpunk 2077 was announced in 2012, fans of CD Projekt Red have been clamoring for more news, but aside from a teaser site, there’s been radio silence. We know the game is still in development and has been since before The Witcher 3 released, but will this finally be the year we get a big reveal?
It’s been two years since the last expansion for The Witcher 3, Blood and Wine, released and it’s assumed the majority of CD Projekt Red’s resources have been funneled into Cyberpunk 2077. However, that doesn’t mean that Cyberpunk is going to make to E3. While some have claimed that the fact the studio has registered for E3 is definitive proof that they’ll be making a reveal, that’s not necessarily true.
CD Projekt Red could just as easily be announcing the release date for Gwent, or an entirely new game altogether at E3. They may have a booth without making any announcements at all. A company confirming their presence at E3 doesn’t obligate them to do anything other than show up. The studio does have a massive amount of job listings up on their site for Cyberpunk 2077, so it’s evident that the company is looking to increase production on the title, but whether that means it’s getting close to finished or just getting underway is anyone’s guess.
The only thing that’s for sure is that nothing is for sure right now with Cyberpunk 2077. The game is in production according to CD Projekt Red, and that’s all the substantial information available. Given the tight lid the studio has had on this title, any “leaks” or supposition concerning it should be taken with a whole shaker of salt.
