Breath of the Wild Wins Game of the Year 2017 in the Golden Joystick Awards

The Golden Joystick Awards were held today, awarding 25 different categories, including the coveted Game of the Year. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won Ultimate Game of the Year 2017, beating out second place’s Horizon Zero Dawn and third place’s Persona 5.

The Golden Joystick’s Ultimate Game of the Year award is decided by anyone that wishes to vote online. Breath of the Wild also went home with Best Audio, Nintendo Game of the Year 2017, and Critics’ Choice. Nintendo EPD – developers of Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey – walked away with Best Studio for this year.

In 2016, the Ultimate Game of the Year was awarded to Dark Souls 3, while the Most Wanted future game was Mass Effect: Andromeda. The winner of this year’s Most Wanted upcoming game is The Last of Us Part 2. The Final Fantasy series was inducted into the Hall of Fame, following Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft last year.
