Winner: Rise of the Tomb Raider

In a year filled with strong action adventure titles, Rise of the Tomb Raider stood out as the one that was the most fresh and evolutionary. Its healthy mixture of focused story sections and open-world survival areas was a breath of fresh air, and its large library of content made it a game that lasted much longer than the genre typically offers. Lara Croft was at her best this year, and the action adventure genre has had its bar raised.
