Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection comes out this Friday, and it'll be an opportunity for PlayStation 4 owners to play the series for the first time. In fact, the number of PS4 owners who haven't played the popular Sony franchise may surprise folks.
Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli recently took part in an interview with MCV, in which he discussed the upcoming release and how the company hopes to replicate the success of The Last of Us Remastered.
“I do, personally, expect the Uncharted Collection to do as well as The Last of Us Remastered,” he said. “Company-wide, our studio loves it. They set the bar at [the studio porting the games to PS4] Bluepoint and did a really good job with everything – adding new features and making sure that everything looks good."
One of the reasons Monacelli believes the game will do so well is because a lot of PS4 owners didn't experience the action series on PS3.
“We did a lot of research and discovered that about 80 percent of the people that own a PS4 have never played Uncharted, period," he explained. "That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea."
It can be easy to take for granted how many people skipped games in the Xbox 360/PS3 era or simply didn't own the consoles. I didn't expect to hear 80 percent of PS4 owners haven't played an Uncharted game, but at least Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a great excuse to jump in now.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection comes out on October 9. I'm currently playing the game, so keep an eye on GameRevolution for our review in the next couple of days.
