FFXIII-2 PAX Trailer of an Insecure Developer

Square Enix has posted up the official PAX Prime 2011 trailer of upcoming multiplatform RPG Final Fantasy XIII-2. In it, we get a look at a few cinematic moments, some plot points using the in-game engine, and several chunks of gameplay. The gameplay pieces are sadly just the type that don't tell us, much, though, as they're slapped together, unrelated clips only of one to three seconds in length.

That's kind of a cop out if you ask me, as a developer can then say "Well we've shown gameplay lots of times," but the clips don't do much to actually convey the experience of playing a game. I can make a highlight video containing two-second clips of my road trip across the US and make it look like it was non-stop action with little time to breathe, think, or zip up, but it doesn't really paint anything close to an accurate picture. Meh, maybe I bitch too much.

Ever sensitive to criticism and tired of being asked to make products that millions people would pay a lot of money for, Square Enix has disabled comments and ratings from its YouTube videos.
