July 2015 hasn't been very friendly to gamers. Last year we had The Last of Us Remastered to entertain us through the heat of the Summer. This year many are relying on indie games like Rocket League and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter to entertain them. It may come as no surprise to you that both have experienced monumental financial success.
The PS4 version of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is performing remarkably well following its launch a week ago. The official developer Twitter account shared the game's success via the following post:
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter has been met with praise for its engrossing world, gorgeous visuals, and remarkable story. However, it was available on PC for 10 months—where it was similarly profitable—before its arrival on PS4. Some would think that the interest would wane during that time, but sales prove otherwise.
The PS4 version performs remarkably well with a 1080p resolution, rivaling the PC version that is regarded as one of the most beautiful presentations in gaming. Soon, the PC version will be updated with Unreal Engine 4 enhancements as well as 4K support.
The Summer drought isn't so bad if you're willing to dive into more bite-sized games like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. If you're waiting for the next big AAA title—that isn't a remaster—you're going to be waiting until the first week of September when Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain arrives. Good luck.
