Contrary to prior reports, Devil's Third, the upcoming Wii U action game from developer Valhalla Game Studios, will be published by Nintendo of America and arrive in the territory sometime during the fourth quarter of 2015.
"Valhalla and Nintendo have decided to release Devil’s Third for Wii U in the 4th calendar quarter of 2015," the studio confirmed in a statement sent to GameSpot.
The title is releasing in both Europe and Japan next month, and until now, didn't have any sort of confirmed release timeframe for North America. In fact, recent rumors suggested that NoA had actually decided not to publish the title because of concerns over the game's quality. It looks like Reggie Fils-Aime and the rest of the folks at Nintendo's North American branch either changed their minds, or that report was false.
Additionally, Valhalla has announced a PC version of that game that will be free-to-play. The story campaign will remain exclusive to the Wii U version, so if you want the full package, you'll still need to pick up the game for Nintendo's tablet-centric console. There's no firm release date for the PC version; all we know is that it will launch sometime after the Wii U version is out on store shelves.
Will Devil's Third end up being a game worthy of your time and money? The jury is still out on that, but early reports suggest it isn't all that great. In fact, game director Tomonobu Itagaki has gone so far as to blame the skill of critics and the Wii U GamePad itself for its negative reception.
