Director Chosen for Shadow of the Colossus Movie

Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced via press release that Argentinean Andres Muschietti, director of horror-fantasy 2013 film Mama, has been chosen as the director for the upcoming movie adaptation of the acclaimed Shadow of the Colossus. (Fake movie poster posted above.)

Muschietti, who is apparently a fan of the original game, will be supervising Seth Lockhead in writing the adapted screenplay, while Barbara Muschietti and Kevin Misher will be producing the project. The movie intends to "depict the supernatural in Shadow, set in an epic-scale world filled with mythic giants and disembodied spirits."

President of Production Michael De Luca was immediately convinced that Muschietti would do the original game justice: "We knew we had our director once we heard Andy's take on the material – it was genius The themes, characters and supernatural elements of the story have incredible international appeal with fans of the game in the millions."
