Nintendo has had a bumper July this year according to the most recent sales numbers that have come in hot off the presses.Ā June was a victory by all accounts as the Japanese giants topped games sale charts withĀ Mario Tennis AcesĀ and the king has refused to be dethroned with the Nintendo July sales numbers showing thatĀ Octopath TravelerĀ topped video game sales across all platforms. With two high-performing months under their belt, it looks like Nintendo is going from strength to strength with its new flagship console.
Forbes has reported that Nintendo led sales charts for the month by a square mile and that 5 of the top 10 best-selling titles for that time period were Nintendo titles.
These figures donāt count digital sales, which could mean that the company has an even more dominating lead over the sales being churned out by the rest of its industry competitors. These successful titles included the likes ofĀ Octopath Traveler, Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey,Ā andĀ Mario Tennis Aces. Itās heartening to see releases from Year One of the console still moving impressive numbers, and it certainly bodes well for current popular games which may well get a new lease of life as the Nintendo Switch goes from strength to strength.
While there were murmurings in the Switchās early life as to whether or not it would be truly viable, it appears that naysayers and developers have since come around. The ever-growing library of titles on the Switch, both ports, and exclusives, speaks a lot to the support that Nintendo has been giving to their prodigal baby. With the likes ofĀ Diablo III,Ā Saintās Row: The ThirdĀ and even MOBAs likeĀ Arena of ValorĀ wanting to call the Switch home, it looks like Nintendoās dominance of the sales charts is only going to become more pronounced in the future.
