SoulCalibur 6 patch notes hotfix 2.04

Soul Calibur 6 Adds Ivy and Zasalamel To Roster

Bandai Namco has announced the addition of two playable characters in Soul Calibur 6, which are Ivy and Zasalamel. Both fighters are existing fan favorites from the Soul Calibur franchise.

Ivy has been a mainstay of the series since the original Soul Calibur, which was released in 1998. One of the series’ most recognizable fighters, her full name is Isabella Valentine and she is the illegitimate daughter of the undead pirate Cervantes de Leon. She desires to destroy the cursed blade Soul Edge, which destroyed her life and her family. To aid her in her quest, she created the now iconic segmented whip-sword which she wields.

Zasalamel is a fairly new addition to the Soul Calibur series. He was first introduced in Soul Calibur 3, which was released in 2005. He hails from an ancient tribe whose mission is to protect the holy blade Soul Calibur. He acted as the main antagonist or final boss in Soul Calibur 3, transforming into a creature named Abyss in the final rounds of the game. He reappeared in Soul Calibur 4 through reincarnation and made it his mission to protect both Soul Calibur and Soul Edge from being destroyed. He did not appear in Soul Calibur 5.

Ivy and Zasalamel will be joining returning characters such as Kilik, Mitsurugi, Nightmare, Sophitia, and Xianghua. So far only one new character has been confirmed, and his name is Grøh. The game will feature new battle mechanics like the Reversal Edge to land counterattacks while guarding, as well as multiple fighting styles from different characters. Players will engage in dynamic high-speed battles with fighters who wield unique weapons.

Soul Calibur 6 was initially announced at the Game Awards 2017. Just like Tekken 7 which was released in 2017, it will run on Unreal Engine 4. It will be released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2018. The story events in Soul Calibur 6 takes place around the same timeframe as the original Soul Calibur.
