To unlock armor in Halo: Reach for The Master Chief Collection, you will need to earn Season Points and unlock rewards through the Season Pass. This differs from the previous release, where players instead earned and spent Credits on various items.

It’s quite a different system when compared to the previous method of unlocking items, but it should be immediately familiar to anyone who has worked through Season Passes or Battle Passes in other games. For experienced Halo: Reach players, the main difference this time around is that items are unlocked as you progress through the Season; there’s no option to pick and choose specific rewards. Instead, you’ll have to keep playing the game to earn XP, and every time you rank up, you’ll be given one Season Point.

Thankfully, the first Season in Halo: Reach is free to all players, and comprises 100 different tiers full of various items and cosmetics, including armor. Once a Season Point has been earned, simply head to the Options menu and then the Career page to unlock the next item for that Season.

It’s a simple system: To unlock Armor in Halo: Reach, just keep playing the game. Experience will eventually earn you a higher rank, and with that rank will come a Season Point that can be used to purchase the next Season reward. Maybe it’s not as convenient as the Credit system of the past, but it does at least dole out rewards and cosmetics at a steady pace.
