Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cherry Blossom Petals

How to get Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossom petals

If you’re based in the Northern Hemisphere, or at least claimed to be when creating your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island, then you’ll have noticed that some of your trees have had a major makeover. With the arrival of April, all trees that aren’t pine, palm, or fruit-bearing have flowered into pink cherry blossoms (or sakura) and injected even more color into the game. This soon raises the question of how to get Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossom petals once you realize they can be used for crafting, though.

Stick with this Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch guide as we teach you everything you need to know about gathering cherry blossom petals Animal Crossing-style.

How do you get Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossom petals?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cherry Blossom Petals

As soon as you boot up Animal Crossing: New Horizons following the arrival of April 1 in the Northern Hemisphere, Isabelle will greet you with a brand-new DIY Recipe during her daily update — provided you already have the Resident Services building erected, that is. The gifted Animal Crossing: New Horizons outdoor picnic set requires, amongst other things, 10 cherry blossom petals to build.

How on earth do you get hold of cherry blossom petals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though?

How to get Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossom petals

  1. Boot up Animal Crossing: New Horizons during spring.
  2. Locate a cherry blossom tree, indicated by their flowering pink foliage.
  3. Wait until you see a cherry blossom petal fall and get carried on the wind.
  4. Approach the petal and use your net to catch it, as you would a bug.
  5. Don’t delay, as rather than landing on the ground for you to pick up, floating petals will disappear after some time.

Unfortunately, you can’t shake cherry blossom trees to make their petals fall. Instead, gathering cherry blossom petals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a matter of playing the waiting game until you see them fall at random.
