Titanfall Director Leading Skunkworks Team to ‘Find the Fun in Something New’

Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella recently revealed that a small team within the company is at work on a new game.

What is Respawn Entertainment’s Next Game?

In an interview with Axios (via VGC), Zampella noted that a “skunkworks” team — a term used to describe an experimental part of a company — is being headed up by Steve Fukuda, the game director of Titanfall and Titanfall 2.

According to Zampella, the aim is to find “something new,” but he didn’t reveal too much about what the team’s goals were beyond that. “The mission is to find the fun in something new,” Zampella said.

A new game in the works is sure to get fans excited. However, it does come with the caveat that – as of now – a third entry in the Titanfall series is not being planned. In a separate interview with Barron’s, Zampella noted that, while he’d love to see a Titanfall 3 happen, “there are no exact dedicated plans for that” at the moment.

Currently, Respawn is celebrating the launch of this year’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor; the game recently released to favorable reviews from critics and fans alike. Alongside that, the studio continues to work on its highly popular battle royale title, Apex Legends.
