Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, better known as the final actor to take on the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in Game of Thrones, recently participated in a celebrity tournament of Mortal Kombat 11 on the Xbox One. Facing off against musician Dimitri Vegas, he defeated his opponent in a series of intense matches, which is when things got crazy.
Following the conclusion of the matches, presenter Graeme Boyd asked The Mountain and Dimitri Vegas if either of them would like to shake hands. The Mountain gingerly walked up to his opponent before grabbing either side of his head and screaming, mimicking the iconic fight between his character and The Viper in Game of Thrones Season 4. It was pretty amusing, but then Björnsson stepped things up a notch.

As the audience applauded the celebrity’s energy, Björnsson then grabbed Dimitri Vegas by the side and lifted him up above his shoulders, eventually extending his arms into a full overhead press to raucous cheers from the crowd and excited exclamations from the presenters. Fellow presenter Charleyy Hodson jokingly said that she was going to hide on the other side of the stage after the feat of strength.
This particular celebrity match served to highlight the newest DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 which was leaked a few days in advance of its official reveal. The fights between Vegas and Björnsson were particularly entertaining and oddly reflected the size differences between the two celebrity participants. While Dimitri Vegas put up a solid fight as Sub-Zero, he was unable to fend off the might of The Mountain as he played Shao Khan, relentlessly battering his opponent with a massive warhammer.
The post-game celebration was all in good fun, though; after Hafþór graciously returned his opponent to the ground, he pulled him in for a hug. You can watch the full event on Twitch right now, or you can simply see the glorious (and hilarious) ending below.
