It’s also a fully featured title that runs great on the Switch and has online multiplayer if any friends want to play.

Best Switch Racing Games | Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
Beenox hit it out of the park with its remake of Crash Team Racing. Not only is it a faithfully created remake, but it is being supported with some fantastic free DLC that includes Spyro as a playable racer and tracks from its sequel. It’s easily the best single-player kart racer on the system, even though its difficulty curve can be harsh, and it’s no slouch in the multiplayer department either. This is a great addition to any Switch owner’s library.
Best Switch Racing Games | Fast RMX
Similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this is an improved port of a quality Wii U racer that not enough people played. Although it is a lot like F-Zero in style and substance, this fast-paced racer is really the closest we’ll get to a sequel to the beloved Nintendo series. It’s by far the best game Shin’en Multimedia has put out and it still holds up as being one of the prettiest racers on the system despite being a launch game.
Best Switch Racing Games | Gear Club Unlimited
While it won’t be getting confused for Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo, the Gear Club Unlimited series is the best you’ll get right now on Switch if you’re looking for a more traditional racing game with real-life cars. Its mobile roots can still be seen in its middling artificial intelligence opponents, but the actual racing feels solid and the game looks great on Switch. The original can be purchased on the cheap and there aren’t a ton of improvements in the sequel, so it might just be best to pick that up if you’re looking to game on the affordable side.

There’s a wide array of arcade racers on Nintendo Switch, but nothing else is quite like Grip: Combat Racing. The futuristic racing title blends weapons and racing well, and it has a great “carkour” mode that has the player trying to navigate difficult courses as a test of skill. Sadly, it’s lacking the polish to make it truly great but it is unique enough to still be worth your time.

Italian developer Milestone has a number of motorcycle racing games on Switch and MXGP 3 is among the best of them. Despite some solid competition in recent months, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best kart racer on the system. It features an incredible amount of content as it includes all of the DLC characters and courses from the Wii U title plus a few additions of its own. The 200cc difficulty is sure to test the mettle of any gamer and the revamped battle mode is a ton of fun when played online against friends. The only real downside is the lack of compelling single-player content, but there is still enough unlocks that it’s worth playing the grand prix multiple times.

There is a lot more to racing than just getting behind the wheel and driving a few laps. Professional racing is the hard work of dozens of people from pit crews to management teams and Motorsport Manager brings that side of racing to life as you’ll micro-manage every element that goes into races. The Switch port of the popular PC game is stellar and it’s a great handheld title.

If Fast RMX is the best F-Zero we will get on Switch, then Redout takes the title of best Wipeout game on the system. However, it’s much more than a clone as it’s a far faster racing game that the series that inspired it and players have to regularly adjust their pitch while racing.
