Tell GR: What’s Your Favorite Competitive Game?

This week we’re on-site at Dota 2‘s The International. Seeing the spectacle of the largest gaming tournament ever in person has been something special, and has reminded just how far competitive gaming has come.  It’s no longer just about a couple hardcore PC games, there are console titles and even collectible card games thrown into the mix, providing something for just about everyone.

The most popular eSports games are as follows, based on prize allotment and tournament count:

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Dota 2
  • League of Legends
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Heroes of the Storm
  • StarCraft 2
  • Hearthstone: Heroes of WarCraft
  • Overwatch
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Smite

Although there are millions of eSports fans around the world, they usually only follow one or two games, and a large portion of the audience doesn’t even play the game they watch.

In my case, I’m a huge fan of watching and playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, though I also occasionally check in on Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft 2, and Overwatch.

What’s your competitive game of choice? Let us know in the comments below.
