Nerdytec Couchmaster CYCON3 Review

The nerdytec Couchmaster CYCON3 continues the company’s push for comfortable couch gaming without needing to compromise on the experience. With a Couchmaster CYCON, users can comfortably use a keyboard and mouse on the couch, something that is otherwise very challenging to accomplish. The third iteration of the CYCON introduces new customizable RGB lighting and improved connectivity, without sacrificing any of the features that made previous CYCON products so good. Here’s my review.

Get comfy

What exactly is the CYCON3? On the surface, it’s simply a couple of memory foam cushions on which to rest your arms, combined with a plastic board that sits above your lap. This combination provides support for your arms and also a place to put the keyboard and mouse.

That’s not all the CYCON3 is, however, as it also features connectivity in the form of six USB ports including a USB-C fast charging port. This acts as a hub for your PC gaming accessories, like a keyboard, mouse, controller, headset, and phone charger, all tucked away inside the lapboard. Then, a single cable goes from the CYCON3 to the PC, making for a very tidy setup.

Side pockets allow for the easy storage of peripherals, snacks, and anything else users would want to store.

I’d also like to highlight the vegan leather wrist support, which is a nice touch and comes in handy during longer gaming sessions where leaning against hard plastic would become uncomfortable.

Go RGB

As for the new “HORIZONLIGHT LED Bar,” I’m all for some added RGB flair. It’s not like the CYCON3 is subtle anyway, as it’s very clear that users are locked in and ready to game, so why not throw in some RGB lighting?

In use, the CYCON3 does its job well. After setting it up with my peripherals and tucking the cables away inside the lapboard, I appreciated how clean the setup became. Having everything you need in this little “battlestation” is great and really allows you to focus on the game.

PC gaming made comfortable

While many believe PC gaming can only be done at a desk, nerdytec is proving otherwise, as the CYCON3 allows me to competitively game in titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with a keyboard and mouse, all while sitting on my couch. It also makes other PC games more fun to control, like Baldur’s Gate 3, which can be a chore to play with a controller.

It’s also worth noting that both PlayStation and Xbox support keyboard and mouse inputs, so it’s not just PC gamers who can benefit from this product. If you’re playing Call of Duty on PS5 and want to try out keyboard and mouse controls from the couch, a product like the CYCON3 is a good choice.

Consider the size

It’s a simple product, I’ll admit, but potential buyers will want to consider potential size constraints. The CYCON3 is not a small product. The lapboard itself is just over 32” wide, so you’ll want to measure your space to make sure it can accommodate the product, especially if you’re planning to sit on a smaller couch with others.
