OBSBOT Meet 2 Webcam Review

The OBSBOT Meet 2 is a small yet mighty webcam that packs a serious punch when it comes to image quality. For those who prefer the compact form factor, for a more minimal setup, or for enhanced portability, the Meet 2 has the potential to deliver a crisp 4K image with AI assistance. How has it fared during my testing? Here is my review.

Compact quality

Let’s start with the highlights, as the OBSBOT Meet 2’s tiny package includes a CMOS sensor capable of capturing 4K at 30 FPS and 1080p at 60 FPS. Image quality is impressive, too, with good low-light performance and an aperture that naturally blurs the background, similar to high-end traditional cameras. This spec combination results in an exceptionally crisp image that looks clean and professional, despite the camera’s small size.

For those without a dedicated microphone who will depend on the Meet 2’s mics, OBSBOT has improved the audio with a dual omnidirectional setup.

Software options

While it works as a plug-and-play device without software, the optional OBSBOT Center application allows for additional tweaks to image settings like white balance and sharpness. For those who want their video image to look a little warmer, this is the app to use.

Another highlight is the simple, effective magnetic mount, which makes it easy to set the camera up in any space.

Success at the fundamentals

The Meet 2 succeeds in the fundamentals, packing a fantastic sensor into a tiny and highly portable body. At the base level, it’s a top-tier looker for the price, and a simple solution for anyone looking to upgrade their standard laptop camera or aging desktop webcam significantly. Plug it in and away you go.

The weak points

For those looking for a bit more customization, the app does allow some tweaking, but it’s relatively limited when compared to the competition.

My only other nitpick is to do with the camera’s focusing. If you’re moving around too much, the Meet 2 can sometimes struggle to refocus on your new position. However, if you’re planning to stay in relatively the same place, for example while sat at a desk, then the focusing issues become a lot less common.
