After just three days, Black Myth: Wukong sold 10 million copies, making it one of the biggest surprise hits of the summer. Game Science‘s Chinese mythology-inspired action RPG has been receiving a lot of praise as well. However, concerns have been raised about why it’s not yet been ported to Xbox Series X|S, which has prompted a response from Microsoft.
What did Microsoft say about the Black Myth: Wukong Xbox port?
According to a recent report from Forbes, Microsoft has addressed speculations that Black Myth: Wukong is delayed on Xbox due to limitations specific to the Series S. The company insists these suggestions are unfounded but does not go into details about when the port will be happening.
A statement reads:
We’d prefer not to comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders but we can confirm that the delay is not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us.
Currently, there’s no release date for the Xbox port of Black Myth. Since launching on August 20, the game has been a phenomenal success, with a current review score of “overwhelmingly positive” on Steam.
The third-party website SteamDB logged over 2.4 million players on PC shortly after the game’s release, which made it one of the most-played releases on the system, just shy of Counter-Strike 2‘s record.
At the time of writing, more than 680,000 players are in the game. Whether the upcoming Xbox version will see a new wave of popularity remains to be seen, but there’s no denying just how impressively successful Black Myth: Wukong has been in such a short span of time.
