SCEA Boss Not Pressured by Xbox One Price Cut, “Games Look Better and Play Better on PS4”

PlayStation 4 has been selling incredibly well ever since it launched late last year. The console has been doing so well in fact that it's forced Microsoft to slash the price of Xbox One by $50 just so it can compete this holiday season.

Thanks to the cheaper price, the Big M's new-gen console has seen a significant up-tick in sales, but that doesn't concern SCEA President and CEO Shawn Layden. When asked by GamesBeat whether or not the company is feeling pressured by Xbox One's price cut, he responded by saying, "No, not at all. It’s going to be a very competitive holiday season. Everyone’s going to move their numbers the best way they can. We’re going to be fully engaged in that battle."

That said, it's no secret PlayStation 4's holiday exclusive lineup isn't particularly strong. Despite this, Layden remains confident in the platform's ability to stay ahead, thanks to promising upcoming titles as well as third-party games that simply perform better on PS4.

"We’re looking, early in the new year, at titles like Bloodborne and The Order. For the holiday season, the greatest games are the greatest games," Layden told the outlet. "I certainly understand when publishers wish to get their art in front of as many eyeballs as possible. But I like to think that the games look better and play better on PlayStation 4."
