Fans were hoping to see Rosalina in Super Mario Wonder. However, when the roster of playable characters was revealed, she was nowhere to be seen. That’s not surprising since Nintendo uses her somewhat sparingly compared to others in the Mario universe. But, some held out hope that she’d be an unlockable character. We’ll set the record straight as to whether Rosalina is in the game or not below.
Is Rosalina a playable character in Super Mario Wonder?
Unfortunately, Rosalina isn’t an unlockable character in Super Mario Wonder. In fact, all the playable characters are available from the start, so there aren’t any to unlock.
Despite her popularity, Rosalina has only appeared in a few main Mario games:
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Super Mario 3D World
She does show up in many side games, but for some reason, Nintendo is hesitant to make her a member of the main cast. Perhaps it wants to keep Super Mario Galaxy a separate series.
Rosalina first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy in 2007. She is the guardian of the Comet Observatory and acts as a mother figure to star-like beings called Lumas. Her backstory, unveiled through a storybook in the game, depicts her journey across space with a young Luma, eventually leading her to oversee the Comet Observatory.
In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Rosalina returns, assisting Mario on his quest. She later makes an appearance in Super Mario 3D World. Beyond these main series games, Rosalina has become a recurring character in Mario spin-off titles. She’s a playable character in the Mario Kart series, starting with Mario Kart Wii, and joined the roster of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Her presence has expanded within the Mario universe over time, from sports titles like Mario Tennis Aces to party games such as Mario Party 10.
