Resident Evil 4 Remake: Best Shotgun

Finding the best shotgun in Resident Evil 4 remake is important because it’s going to be your primary heavy hitter and crowd sweeper. This guide will examine the top-performing shotgun, break down its stats and upgrades, and provide tips to help you make the most of this powerful weapon.

We’ll be comparing the three shotguns in Resident Evil 4 remake based on their max stats. So remember, your mileage may vary depending on how far you upgrade your gun.

Resident Evil 4 remake best shotgun overall: Riot Gun

Resident Evil 4 remake Riot Gun
  • Power: 12.8 (Max Total: 19.2)
  • Ammo Capacity: 12
  • Reload Capacity: 0.97
  • Rate of Fire: 1.10
  • Precision: 3.50
  • Exclusive Upgrade: 1.5x Power

The best shotgun in Resident Evil 4 remake is the Riot Gun. Its tighter spread makes it devastating against single enemies, and if you want to hit groups, you can just walk a few steps back. There are better shotguns for quickly clearing a room, but the Riot Gun’s longer range means you don’t have to get as quick to stronger enemies and bosses to go for a critical shot.

Best shotgun for groups: W-870

Resident Evil 4 remake W-870
  • Power: 10.1 (Max Total: 20.2)
  • Ammo Capacity: 10
  • Reload Speed: 0.95
  • Rate of Fire: 0.85
  • Precision: 2.80
  • Exclusive Upgrade: 2x Power

The W-870’s wider spread makes it slightly better for taking on groups of regular enemies than the Riot Gun. It also reloads slightly faster, which can be useful in a pinch.

Best shotgun for wasting money: Striker

Resident Evil 4 remake Striker
  • Power: 16.2
  • Ammo Capacity: 24 (Max Total: 48)
  • Reload Speed: 0.62
  • Rate of Fire: 1.57
  • Precision: 2.00
  • Exclusive Upgrade: Double ammo capacity

The Striker is horrible to the point where I feel like it might be bugged. Its spread is so wide that it does hardly any damage unless you’re at point-blank range. A rapid-fire shotgun seems like a good idea at first glance, but ammo is rare enough that it doesn’t make a lot of sense in this game. Maybe you can use some niche tactic that makes the Striker a great gun, but I didn’t find it.
