Sega Battling Back With Strong Digital Sales

Despite lowering their financials projections in February this year, due to lagging sales in its pachinko machines, Sega surpassed its own predictions with its figures slanting on the side of higher digital sales .

Net sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014 have increased to 378 billion yen ($3.71 billion), approximately 17% compared to the previous year. While its operating income increased by 102 percent, its net income dropped 8% from the previous year.

Luckily, and perhaps a bit surprisingly, Total War: Rome II had the highest software sales with 1.13 million units, Football Manager 2014 had 790,000, Sonic Lost World reached 710,000, and Company of Heroes had 680,000.

Sales for packaged software has declined, whereas digital sales have increased, pushing Sega to focus on more mobile and multi-platform titles.
