[Original] Amazon has finally revealed its long-rumored set-top box. It's called Fire TV and supports video streaming as well as games.

The device is priced at $99 will allow users to stream movies and television shows, as well as play video games and view photos. As one might expect, a number of apps will be supported as well, including Twitch, Hulu, and Netflix.

Amazon plans to outshine Fire TV competitors like Apple TV and Roku by packing in a lot more power than the rest of the set-top boxes on the market. It'll pack a quad-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and a dedicated GPU.

With regard to how it will handle video games, Fire TV will provide a "high-quality, lost-cost gaming" experience, supporting an array of titles including MinecraftThe Walking DeadNBA 2K14, and Monsters University. Games will feature controller support, as well as Fire remote and smartphone/tablet control options. Make no mistake, this is not meant to compete with next-gen consoles.
