Watch Dogs a Perfect, “Uncanny” Fit for PS4, Says Ubisoft

It's almost as if PlayStation 4 was designed specifically with Watch Dogs in mind—that is, according to the game's creative director, Jonathan Morin.

In a post on the EU PlayStation Blog, Morin showered praises over Sony's next-gen hardware, hailing it a "great match" for Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action game. "It was uncanny to see that Watch Dogs was so close to what Sony wanted to do with the console. So Sony understood what we were doing with the game. We were a really great match."

Animation director Colin Graham went on to detail exactly why the console is such an excellent fit, highlighting the benefits that come from developing for a platform with so much built-in memory.

PS4 has really given us the platform to build a new type of game. It gave us a chance to dream.

From an animation point of view we’re always running out of memory, especially when you start developing towards the end of a console generation, so PS4 allowed things like reduced animation compression and more variety in civilians. From my point of view it’s a bit like working with an unlimited budget because we can’t fill the memory budget on PS4. It’s a really nice piece of hardware.

Watch Dogs launches on PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on May 27th. Which platform are you planning on picking it up for?
