Obsidian Entertainment’s new narrative-adventure game Pentiment got a set release date today and this was the cue for the game’s preorders and Xbox Game Pass pre-installs to begin. Those who are members of Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can start installing the game now ready for its November release date, while those who prefer to buy to own can put their digital preorders in right away.
When will Pentiment be released?
Pentiment will be released on November 15 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PC, and Steam and preorders and Game Pass pre-installs have begun. The game will be available on day one for Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate members can pre-install the game from the Microsoft Store ready to play when it is released in a couple of months’ time. Otherwise, the game is available to preorder for $19.99 through the same page.
The game is set during the time of the Holy Roman Empire in 16th century upper Bavaria. Journeyman artist Andreas Maler lives in the fictional town of Tassing and Kiersau Abbey and finds himself caught up in their murders and scandals. Players will make decisions for Andreas, including his educational background, lifestyle, and his behavior during the murder investigations. Time is limited, and it’s up to you whether you spend that scouring scenes for evidence or interviewing suspects while playing card games at the tavern. These decisions will have an impact that affects future gameplay. All of the events take place through the art style of illuminated manuscripts and early modern woodcuts befitting the time period.
In other gaming news, the Gotham Knights release date was moved forward by four days in an unusual move by WB Games Montreal. Elsewhere, The Finals is a free-to-play shooter from Embark Studios where players can now sign up for the closed beta.
