Apex Legends Season 14 Horizon Nerf

Apex Legends Season 14 Horizon Nerf to Black Hole Ultimate Causes Fan Controversy

A controversy is brewing over the recent Apex Legends Season 14 Horizon nerf. Respawn had already revealed in the latest patch notes for the season that her black hole ultimate had been made easier to destroy, but then the developer updated the notes with yet another nerf. Now, the gravity-sucking ult can be destroyed by friendly fire, which has caused a notable amount of negative reactions by the Apex community.

Why some fans are angry over Apex Legends Season 14 Horizon nerf

About seven hours after releasing the Season 14 patch notes, Respawn revealed yet another surprising penalty to Horizon’s ultimate skill through the tweet posted above. It’s unclear why this wasn’t in the original patch notes post, Respawn deemed it important enough to make a post about it. This nerf is in addition to adjustments made to the hitbox for N.E.W.T., which forms the center of the black hole, to make destroying it more reliable. On top of that, N.E.W.T. also takes 50% more damage from explosives. Taken altogether, it’s understandable why some players who main Horizon are upset.

Some fans are fine with the change as one main way Horizon’s ult has been used for heavy damage is by having party members throw grenades into the black hole, dealing massive AoE damage to every enemy locked in its grip. They agree that this combo can end matches if a team knows what it’s doing.

On the other hand, it’s easy to miss with the ult and enemy players can avoid the black hole by dodging effectively. Others on the Apex Legends Reddit note that N.E.W.T. was already easy to destroy, and throwing grenades into the singularity is one of the only consistent ways to deal damage to enemies caught inside it, as shooting them as they swirl around is not the best idea. With these nerfs, we may see Horizon fall down future tier lists by quite a bit.

In other news, Apex Legends has a new Hunted Battle Pass that introduces the Fortune Hunter Reactive Triple Take, and the Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct will be livestreamed tomorrow.
