Fall Guys Item Shop Refund

Fall Guys Item Shop Accidental Purchases Will Get a Refund from Mediatonic

Fall Guys has recently been hit by a bug where players made accidental purchases from the item shop, and while Mediatonic initially refused to acknowledge the issue, the developer has now said those who fell victim to these transactions can get a refund. Mediatonic will also be improving the design of the store and offering a costume as compensation.

The accidental purchases problem with the Fall Guys Item Shop

There are several bugs that have been causing accidental purchases on the Fall Guys Item Shop. Items were automatically purchased in the shop while players were previewing them. Other shop links led to incorrect items so players bought incorrect items for Show-Bucks instead of Kudos. PC players also found certain hotkey combinations could lead to automatic purchases, while key prompts to purchase items were also incorrect. According to a Reddit post compiled by u/hold_my_cocoa, over 100 players had fallen victim to the aforementioned issues.

Mediatonic has now promised they will improve the store design to make sure these issues don’t happen again and has apologised. The new response is a far cry from the PR disaster that was brewing earlier in the week. Reddit user u/ChunkyPeat revealed a Fall Guys Player Support e-mail that denied knowledge of bugged purchases, refused to refund the player, and was far from apologetic:

“Thanks for your reply.

Please let me correct something from your response.

You have stated that this is a “bugged purchase” and a “known issue”. Neither of these things is the case.

The purchase was made by you, not a bug. Whether it was intentional or not, this is still the case.

This is not a “known issue” because it is not an issue. Items cannot be bought automatically by the system, they always require input from the player. Again, whether accidental or not, you made this input and purchased the item.

As per our EULA, which you agreed to, all purchases are final and will not be refunded.

I apologise for any confusion this may have caused, and hope that I have cleared this up for you.”

In the meantime, those who made accidental purchases between June 21 and the update that improves store performance can request a refund for their cosmetics, and this will be honored. Finally, the Grandis costume will be given away, although it’s unclear whether this will just be for affected players or whether it will be for everyone.

In other gaming news, Elden Ring has become one of the top ten best-selling games of all time in the US. Elsewhere, Skate 4 will have microtransactions but they won’t be pay-to-win or gameplay altering.
