Jurassic World: Dominion officially concludes the franchise’s Chris Pratt-led reboot trilogy, but given its T-Rex-sized success at the box office — despite damning reviews — it seems fans aren’t ready to say goodbye to the big, bad dinos just yet. Thankfully, Universal’s Orlando theme park isn’t about to let the series become extinct either, as it’s recently revealed Universal’s Great Movie Escape, an escape room-like attraction based on Jurassic World. Here’s everything we know about Universal’s Great Movie Escape.
Jurassic World escape room coming to Universal Orlando Resort
Set to debut this fall at Universal CityWalk, The Great Movie Escape will combine sets, storytelling, and interactive missions to immerse fans in Jurassic World’s terrifying, prehistoric beast-infested universe. Designed by the same creative team behind the park’s popular Halloween Horror Nights annual event, Universal is calling the attraction a “next-level, can’t-miss, multi-sensory experience like no other.”
While details are still scarcer than dinosaur DNA, the expectation is that the team will craft this project with the same authenticity and attention to detail that’s helped make its Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Wizarding World of Harry Potter fan-favorites. If narrowly escaping the jaws of a Velociraptor isn’t your idea of a good time, the Great Movie Escape is also offering an alternative experience that might be more to your liking.
When the attraction opens in a few months, it will also invite guests into a time-traveling adventure based on the Back to the Future franchise. While specifics on this second escape room are also under wraps, the prospect of joining Marty McFly and Doc Brown in their time-hopping DeLorean is promising.
Escape rooms and similar experiences are pretty common these days, with new ones regularly popping up in big cites and near popular tourist destinations. But the combination of Universal’s dedication to themed entertainment and this awesome pair of Amblin Entertainment properties bodes well for The Great Movie Escape leveling-up the art form.
