The rumored Mass Effect TV show could be coming soon to Amazon Prime. Details are slim, but the Mass Effect TV show would likely adapt the story of Commander Shepard and the crew of the SSV Normandy. Fans are unsurprisingly clamoring to see their favorite characters adapted for the small screen – but when would the Mass Effect TV show release date be?
When is the release date for the Mass Effect TV show?
At the time of writing, there is no concrete release date for the Mass Effect show on Amazon Prime Video.
That’s because the show is a long way off of official confirmation, let alone production. In fact, neither Amazon nor EA have yet to officially announce the show. It was first teased in a Deadline article, saying that talks were ongoing between the companies. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Mass Effect show will go into production, as negotiations could well stall if there’s a disagreement.
That said, if talks go well and the show does get the green slight, it would still be several years before it releases. Looking at Amazon’s other behemoth original series, based on Lord of the Rings, gives a good idea of the timeline. That show was announced in late 2017, and is due to release in late 2022. That five-year production cycle would likely be similar to Mass Effect. Given the scale of the sci-fi world, and the level of post-production CGI required, it would no doubt be a timely process. As such, don’t expect the Mass Effect release date to be any time before 2025 at the earliest.
However, if pre-production goes smoothly, it could shave some time off this projected release date. Until the show is officially confirmed, it’ll be up in the air.
In other news, the Cowboy Bebop TV show is out now – and we weren’t fans. The new Hawkeye show started recently too, and we’ve dug into who the main villain could be.
